Miller Christmas Tree Equipment Company - Side Bar
About Tom Miller's Tree Farm and Nursery
In 1982, Thomas W. Miller left the Cattle and Dairy farming business and started growing Fraser Fir trees. His great-great grandfather, who emigrated from Germany, settled here in 1825. He was a hog and turkey farmer. This makes Tom a third generation farmer.
Tom started farming 5 acres of trees; today he farms over 600 acres of mostly Fraser Fir trees for sale during the Christmas Holidays on land located near the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The family business was incorporated in 2003. The past 25 years has seen a lot of growth. Our company operates from a 15,000 sq. ft. building, that includes our office and shop. We have 14 full-time employees and employ approximately 50 additional workers during harvest season.
We gather our Fraser Fir seeds from Roan Mountain, TN and Mount Rogers, VA. The seeds are then sewn in our beds until transplanted to our fields for later harvesting. The company has a 3,200 sq. ft. cool storage building where we store our Fraser Fir seedlings and Holiday Wreaths.
Our goal is to stay current with Industry trends. This year we are proud to announce that we will start shaking our trees to rid them of old shedding needles and drilling all our trees to accept the spike stands.
We have under construction a new loading yard that will replace two smaller yards that we are currently using. This new 22,500 sq. ft. building will allow us to continue to expand with increased capability.
Thank you for your interest in our company and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you in the future.
